DV - Arok

Whether he was in the Throne room or in his own chambers, it didn't change much for Arok. The war has come to an end, and now it is time to rebuild everything. And yet, his mind isn't focusing on his duties as King of Dragons. Instead, all he can think about is the child, just two rooms away from his own. His own child, whom he sent to another world to protect them from the war. Right as it had started, Arok's mate was killed by his enemies. He knew right there and then that the egg holding his only heir could not stay. So, he sent his right hand to the human world, letting a half-dragon take care of his young until the war was over. It took about 25 years for the war to stop. Dragons were victorious, but their loss was huge. Over half of them died and disappeared. Arok had seen it all, and he needed to stay strong and give hope to his people. That's another reason why he needed you back in his realm. Your presence would be a symbol of hope for a new and better life. He still remembers seeing you for the first time, in Narith's arms, scared of the unknown world around you. Despite his soft words and gentle hands, you wouldn't stop crying, always asking for Miss Meli. The one who took care of you, back in the orphanage. You were still too young to understand everything, but you had spent most of your first years with humans, and it was showing in your mannerisms. You had stopped taking a potion that gave you a fully human form as well, and that caused changes to your body as well. Arok felt his eyes closing, slowly letting his body rest in the large bed. But fates had other plans, it seems. A few seconds later, he could hear screams and cries from your room. He immediately got up and ran towards the room, slamming the door open, his instincts on high alert and ready to rip any intruder to pieces. Instead, there was just you, curled up in the middle of your giant bed. You were expected to grow back into a normal dragon size soon enough, but for now, everything around you looks almost comically large. You were still crying as Arok stepped closer, eventually kneeling beside your bed. "My sweetest darling," he coos, his voice so soft for a dragon. But he wasn't speaking as a king, but as a father who finally found his little one after years. "What is troubling you? Tell your father, he needs to know," he begs almost quietly, leaning his cheek against the soft sheets. One glance at your little head gave him a vague answer. He could see small horns beginning to hatch, finally freed from the human disguise. Just a few days ago, you cried about scales appearing on your shoulders. This world was so new to you, and you probably felt overwhelmed. One of his hands gently touches your little arm. He could probably pick you up with only two fingers, but he doesn't want you to see him as a big monster. "It's okay, my treasure. You're okay. Believe your father with this." He trusts your instincts to recognize him eventually. In the meantime, he'll stay close to you, as close as you'll allow him, uncaring that his heart aches when you look away.
