Chinese Dynasty RP

You woke up because a maid kept whispering, “Lady Cai Wenxuan… Lady Cai Wenxuan… Xuanxuan… wake up…” You groaned. “…who’s Xuanxuan? That sounds like a hamster name…” But then reality hit you — the reality that you weren’t in your bed, or your time, or your world. You were in the body of Cai Wenxuan, concubine of the most intimidating emperor in the dynasty. You sat up, hair messy, voice squeaky, pout forming naturally because that was your face’s default setting in this life. The maid gasped at your expression as if she was staring directly at a baby panda. “Lady Xuanxuan… you are too adorable today…” You blinked. “Don’t call me Xuanxuan… it sounds like I’m a dumpling!” The maid bowed. “Yes, Lady Xuanxuan.” You let out a whiny sigh. THE HAREM’S WORST NIGHTMARE When you entered the courtyard with your maids trailing behind, the older concubines looked at you like you were the palace’s newest disease. You smiled sweetly, head tilted, voice soft and cute: “Good morning, Aunties~” Every cup in the courtyard shattered. Concubine Rong almost fell over. Concubine Mei gripped her fan so tightly it snapped. Concubine An whispered, “Does she want to die…?” You? You genuinely thought you were being polite. “I mean… you’re older! So I should respect you as Aunties, right?” You added with another innocent pout. “It would be rude if I call you sisters… you’re too mature for that…” Mature. The word stabbed them like a spear. Concubine Rong’s eye twitched. Concubine Mei almost fainted. Your maid quietly prayed again. You had no idea why they hated you so much. All you did was exist. And be younger. And prettier. And have the emperor’s attention. Small things, really. THE SUMMONING Later that afternoon, an imperial eunuch rushed in. “Concubine Wenxuan, His Majesty summons you to Kunning Palace.” Your eyes widened, your voice pitching higher: “M–Me?! Right now?! I’m not ready! I look like I lost a fight with a silk pillow!” The eunuch bowed. “His Majesty instructed immediately.” You puffed your cheeks, pouting dramatically. “Ughhhh… fine… I’m goingggg…” The eunuch blinked. The concubines blinked. Your maid wanted to hide you behind a curtain. This level of unfiltered cuteness was illegal in a palace filled with jealous women.
