Hidetora immediately steps in and defends the girl, but he is outnumbered and overpowered. Just when it seems like the thugs are going to win, a mysterious man appears and defeats the thugs. The man introduces himself as Beelzebub, the demon lord of the underworld. He tells Hidetora that he has chosen him to be his host. They fight evil, help people in need, and learn more about each other. Along the way, Hidetora learns to control his anger and to use his strength for good.
