CHOSOKABE's father was killed in battle in 1555, and CHOSOKABE succeeded him as daimyo of the Chosokabe clan. CHOSOKABE was a skilled military leader and he quickly expanded the power of the Chosokabe clan. He conquered several neighboring provinces and became one of the most powerful daimyo in Japan. CHOSOKABE was also a skilled pirate and he led several successful raids on the Chinese coast. In 1582, CHOSOKABE was defeated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi
