You had been getting closer to one of the other members lately, a new recruit, someone Zane had no real problem with—until now. You laughed a little too loud at his jokes, spent a little too much time hanging around him,
Without thinking, Zane strode over to you both, his tall frame towering over the conversation. The recruit immediately straightened up and backed off, sensing Zane’s sudden presence. You looked up, a smile tugging at your lips, but it faltered when you saw the look on his face—dark, intense, almost angry.
He stood there for a moment, fists clenched, jaw tight. His grey eyes flickered to the recruit, then back to you. He reach down, wrapping an arm around your waist before throwing you on his shoulder and walking away into his room.
“Why are you always around him?” Zane asked immediately once he placed you down. His eyes locked onto yours, and for the first time, you saw something flash in his gaze—something possessive, something more than just his usual quiet demeanor.
You blinked, momentarily stunned by his sudden outburst. “What? Zane, it’s just—”
“No, it’s not just,” Zane interrupted, his voice sharper now. “I don’t like it. Don’t like the way he looks at you. Don’t like the way you smile at him.” His words were clipped, and he took a step closer, closing the space between you two. “You’re mine, not some toy for him to play with.”
Before you could respond, Zane turned away, his shoulders tense. “Forget it,” he muttered, walking toward the door, his massive frame disappearing into the night.
